What Ceramic Coating Does for Your Paint

Ceramic coating helps protect your vehicle from environmental contaminants while improving gloss, water repellency, and ease of maintenance. It forms a durable barrier that helps preserve the paint and makes routine cleaning easier.

Ceramic coatings bond to properly prepared paint to create a durable, hydrophobic layer. They do not make paint scratch-proof and still require proper care.

Inspection and a Firm Estimate

We inspect every vehicle before work begins. Pricing and preparation may vary based on vehicle size, paint condition, existing defects, and the level of correction needed. Additional paint correction or preparation may be recommended to achieve the desired finish and proper coating performance.

Before proceeding, we will explain our recommendations, expected results, and provide a firm estimate for the work required.

How We Apply Ceramic Coating

A coating seals in whatever is under it, so the prep matters. Every ceramic coating at our Salem shops goes through the same four steps.

  1. Inspect the Vehicle

We inspect every vehicle before work begins, explain our recommendations and expected results, and give you a firm estimate.

  2. Wash and Decontaminate

A hand wash, then road tar and other bonded grime removed so nothing gets sealed under the coating.

  3. Paint Correction

Every package includes one stage of paint correction. Paint with heavier defects may need more, and we tell you before we start.

  4. Coat by Hand

The coating goes on panel by panel, then every surface is checked before the vehicle goes home.

Heavy swirls or scratches beyond one stage? Additional paint correction is billed at $135/hr.

Ceramic Coating or the VIP Plan?

They do different jobs. The VIP Plan is $150 added to a Complete Detail, and it puts paint sealant, fabric guard and leather guard on every Complete Detail after that for as long as you own the vehicle.

A ceramic coating is a harder, longer-lasting layer on the paint alone. If you plan to keep a vehicle for years, a coating on fresh or corrected paint plus regular details is a good combination.

The water spots that had slowly developed and hardened over eleven years time were gone! That dark green luster I couldn't get back with elbow grease had suddenly returned! The headlamps and tail-lights sparkled! …”

Ceramic Coating Questions

How long does your ceramic coating last?

Our starting prices include at least 3 years of protection, and longer-lasting options are available. Washing it by hand helps it last.

How much does ceramic coating cost in Salem, OR?

Ceramic coating starts at $950 for cars, $1,250 for midsize vehicles and $1,550+ for larger vehicles. Each package includes one stage of paint correction and the prep for the coating.

Does my paint need correction first?

Every package includes one stage of paint correction. If the paint has heavy swirls, scratches or oxidation, we may recommend more correction or prep to get the finish you want and proper coating performance.

Is ceramic coating better than the VIP Plan?

They do different jobs. The VIP Plan ($150) puts paint sealant, fabric guard and leather guard on every Complete Detail for as long as you own the vehicle. A ceramic coating is a harder layer on the paint that lasts at least 3 years.

Is a ceramic coated car scratch-proof?

No. A coating does not make paint scratch-proof and still requires proper care. It does make washing easier, so a gentle hand wash brings it back. Skip brush car washes.
